Verden. The quality of the hores of the show jumping stallion licensing in Verden was not seen a long time. Nine premiums were awarded for the outstanding talents. A total of 27 of the 44 young stallions received a positive result. The stallion sales was eagerly awaited. An Aganix du Seigneur son, which the Celle State Stud purchased at auction for 175,000 Euros, jumped to the top of the price statistics. The quality was honoured with an average price of 49,916 Euros for the 24 licensed stallions up for sale.

“Even the stallion preselection gave us hope for the licensing days. The good impression was confirmed on the first day during the warm-up free jumping and also on the final day. Modern, athletic and cleverly jumping stallions characterised the collection,” said breeding director Ulrich Hahne. The Celle State Stud was in a buying mood, securing a total of three highly talented show jumping stallions. The first in the top trio was a bay by Aganix du Seigneur Z/Eldorado van de Zeshoek (breeder: Antonius Schulze-Averdiek, Rosendahl, exhibitor: Schulze-Averdiek Sportpferde und Aufzucht GbR, Rosendahl), who opened the stallion sales. The third dam of the stallion is also the dam of Marcus Ehning’s world-class horse Cornado NRW. He was sold at 175,000 Euros. The auction continued with a very modern grey stallion by Cornet’s Pleasure VDL/Vagabond de la Pomme (breeder and exhibitor: Zuchthof Dree Boeken KG, Heidesee). He not only impressed over the jump, but also has three successful generations of international show jumping on his dam’s side. He cost 108,000 Euros. The last stallion for the state stud was an athletic bay by Taloubet Z/Chacco-Blue (breeder: Johannes zur Lage, Bersenbrück, exhibitor: Simone Kottwitz, Bippen), who impressed with his power and dynamism. He changed hands for 165,000 Euros in co-operation with a long term Kanadian partner of the State Stud Celle.

A regular customer from the Czech Republic secured a typey Chacoon Blue/Vagabond de la Pomme son (breeder: ZG Bormann, Harsum, exhibitor: Franz Bormann jun., Harsum) for 72,000 Euro. An Aganix du Seigneur Z/Acorado son (breeder and exhibitor: Frank Johannsen, Buxtehude), who comes from the dam line of Lars Nieberg’s team Olympic champion Esprit FRH, ended up in sporty hands. 40,000 Euros had to be invested in the bay stallion. His full brother was sold to Beerbaum Stables in Verden last year. A very special offer from one of the world’s best lines for eventing horses was a Grey Top/Heraldik xx son (breeder and exhibitor: Prof. Dr Volker Steinkraus, Ollsen). A buyer from Belgium had the longest breath and bought the beautifully shaped and elastic jumping grey for 44,000 Euro.

The winning bid of 78,000 Euro for a For Planet/Stakkato Gold son (breeder: Ion Magerusan, Menslage, exhibitor: Gestüt Sprehe GmbH, Löningen) went to Lower Saxony. The last premium stallion up for sale was a Cornet’s Edition/Chin Quin son (breeder: Holger Baum, Hofheim, exhibitor: Hermann Capell, Rheinberg), who was worth 46,000 Euro to a Belgian stallion owner. Another stallion received a premium, but was not for sale: The Colman/Check In son (breeder: Rüdiger Löer, Weste, exhibitor: Soc. Agr: Soc. Agr. Poggio Alla Malva ‘il Groupo’ ss, Malmantile/ITA) remains in Italian ownership. He was characterised by his ambition and athleticism at the licensing days.

Not only Celle secured one of the rough diamonds on the snowy Saturday in December. A Charthago Blue/Perigueux son (breeder and exhibitor: Christoph Eits, Wurster Nordseeküste) will be travelling to Moritzburg State Stud. A 2019-born Aganix du Seigneur/Chin Chin son (breeder and exhibitor: Gestüt Eichenhain GmbH, Varste) left the Niedersachsenhalle without a premium but with a price of 62,000 Euros, making him the first horse registered in Zangersheide to be auctioned in Verden following the liberalisation of the stallion licensing.

In total, exactly half of the licensed stallions (twelve) that were for sale will leave Germany. Hannoveraner customers from Belgium secured the largest contingent with four stallions, followed by Finland, France and the Czech Republic with two purchases each. The average price was 49,916 Euro. The most expensive unlicensed stallion was a three-year-old stallion by Casino Berlin/Silvio (breeder and exhibitor: Peter Mahler, Neuhaus/Oste), who was auctioned off to Bavaria for 25,000 Euro. The twelve unlicensed stallions cost an average of 15,917 Euro.

The Hannoveraner Show Jumping Masters started the licensing of the show jumping stallions. The premium stallions were presented in a show programme before the start of the stallion sales. The Hannoveraner Mare of the Year, Lady Gaga by Lord Pezi/Fly High (breeder and owner: Johannes zur Lage, Bersenbrück) and the Hannoveraner Stallion of the Year, Edward by Embassy/Fabriano (breeder: Hans-Heinrich Dittmer, Radbruch), also made their grand entrance.
