Livamol World Dressage Challenge and Bates National Championships – 2022 at NEC Taupo

Part 1 – World Dressage Challenge, Super 5 Day and Young Dressage Horse

First and foremost – we congratulate Wendi Williamson on becoming NZ Dressage Champion and winner of the Burkner Medal once again after a three out of three classes win on Don Vito MH (Don Frederico/Anamour) – a full sibling to her previous NZ GP Champion and HOYS Champion, Don Amour MH.

There were eight Hanoverians accepted for the World Dressage Challenge held prior to the Bates National Dressage Championships in Taupo.

It is of special note to acknowledge the remarkable achievement of Stacey McCoy (Hartshorne) and her boutique breeding programme from the 2000’s to have three HPH horses accepted (and in fact there were FOUR horses in total and all feature at some point in the reports).

HPH Benedict (Ballettmeister/Winterkoenig) with Rachel Shiree Hughes, HPH Sir Wolkentanz (Sir Donnerhall Old /Wolkentanz I) with Lucarne Dolley and HPH Furst Welcome (Furstenball Old / Wolkentanz I) with Amy Sage

Matthews Hanoverians has two acceptances in Santana MH (Santino/Anamour) with Cindy Wiffin and Georgia MH (Gymnastik Star/Riverdance) with Casey Burton (who did not make the start in the end.

The three remaining Hanoverians were Anuschka PSH (Anamour/Gaius xx) with Kathryn Correy B. Nicolette Rendle, Dance Hit SW (Danciano/Sandro Hit Old) with Susan Tomlin B. Sheena M Ross and HSP Soe Imp. (Sporcken/De Niro) with  Henrike Puketapu.

HPH Sir Wolkentanz and HSP Soe took out the quinella the Senior II competition. HPH Furst Welcome won the Senior I class, and Santana MH placed 4th. Dance Hit SW won the PSG class.

The dam Alla Donner was bred by Joanne McNicoll out of the imported Weltmeyer mare Witsun. Alla Donner was one of three full siblings from Witsun – Ave Maria and Anja being the others. All three mares achieved Premium Studbook status. It is both so heartening yet sad at the same time to see the instant sport success of Swarovski’s young progeny.
