NZ Hanoverian Society Annual General Meeting – 2nd July 2022

The meeting was held at Amberley House, North Canterbury – the first AGM in the South Island in 15 years. It was a relaxed occasion with members having the opportunity to meet the Committee members and fellow breeders over lunch. There was a pleasing attendance of both Members and awards recipients. We are eternally grateful to Andrew and Angie Mason for hosting the events and going above and beyond to make everything work famously.

Mrs Judith Matthews was elected President for a second term along with

Vice Presidents Mrs Angela Miller and Ms Isabella Dalrymple-Gorringe.

Treasurer – Julianne Flyger and Secretary – David Woolley

Three new Committee members were elected – 2 from Canterbury and one from Hawkes Bay – to give  some better representation in those 2 areas. We welcome Janelle Sangster-Ward and Angie Mason (both breeders for some time) from North Canterbury and Adele White from Hawkes Bay who runs the NZ Performance Horses jumping breeding operation there.

There were 53 awards for the year – for Exceptional Performance in Sport, Studbook Mares and Best foals in various categories and for the first time Riders and Owners awards for presenting the Hanoverian and Rheinland horses in their best light.

The best Hanoverian Studbook mare is Stoneylea Vitality (Vitalis KWPN/Weltmeyer) B. John and Angela Smith. The equal best Rheinland mares are Rokeby Fiona (Fugato Old. /Furst Romancier Old.) B. Catherine Smith and Riverrock Felene (Fugato Old. /Salutation Old.) B. Aliesha Moroney.
